When to go to Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik’s weather, climate, festivals, events and public holidays

By Peterjon Cresswell

Although a summer-oriented destination, Dubrovnik offers plenty of entertainment all year round. The cultural season is centred on the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, but there is also the Libertas Film Festival which now takes place in April. Some clubs, restaurants and hotels are summer-only and/or take a break in January.

Weather & climate

Dubrovnik has a Mediterranean climate of hot summers and mild winters. Temperatures can climb well past 30 degrees centigrade in July or August.

Festivals & events

The Dubrovnik Summer Festival runs for six weeks in July and August. April's Libertas Film Festival and the Festival of St Blaise in February are other events to look out for
