It is no coincidence, then, that the Dubrovnik Oyster Festival is staged to coincide with the Feast of St Joseph on March 19. This four-day gastronomic bash involves oysters being prepared every which way – in soup, roasted, baked or in batter – and presented for visitors' delectation in Ston and all down the Stradun, Dubrovnik's main street. To accompany, apart from a simple squeeze of lemon, the finest local wines. You can expect lashings of klapa, the traditional men's choir of Dalmatia singing acapella.
