Sitting on the coast between the small harbours at Newhaven and Granton, the Old Chain Pier was built on the site of - yes, you guessed - an old chain pier that was constructed in 1821 and swept away in a storm in 1898. Today, it functions as a friendly neighbourhood pub, with a conservatory for more formal dining. However, it's best for a simple pint and a bar meal while gazing out over the Forth.

First - a great location and interior decor - but there is where the good stuff ends..
bar staff - they clearly don't see the customer as an important part of their job - prefer to have banter with each other and their own friends who were at the bar.
waiting staff.. 'are you dining?' - I will be right with you..' 15 minutes later we are asked for orders.. and the place only had 3 other tables occupied..
food - 20 minutes later two rather measley portions (for the price) came out. burgers were dry, overcooked and cold. Chips tasted like stale oil and were also cold.
We complained and were told ny the hurt waitress that she would speak with the chef.
5 minutes later they waitress came back to say that the food was cooked to order and was hot with no apology.
all the while all we could hear were the waiting and bar staff having a jolly time making jokes with each other and if anyone came in they made it clear they were inconvenienced.
Someone needs to get a grip on the customer service and someone needs to let the chefs know what they are cooking is sub standard..
I was SO angry after my experience and only live 5 minutes away and won't be coming back ever.
