'T'was the weekend before Christmas and all through the city
People knew of the 5am license and on their livers they took pity.'

This week, Christmas party season in Edinburgh kicks into high gear with three very different guest DJs.

House of Traps and Jon K at In Deep – Sneaky Pete’s, Fri Dec 19
One of Edinburgh’s finest meets a stalwart of the Manchester music scene here, with Jon K travelling up from Lancashire to show us the depth and eclecticism of his record collection. Well-known for many years around his home city as the guy behind the counter at the late Fat City record store, he’s since moved further into promotion and DJing, with his Hoya:Hoya night having come to be regarded as one of Manchester’s best. House of Traps, meanwhile, is Lindsay Todd (pictured) – producer, Firecracker Records boss and owner of his own indie record store, Edinburgh’s Living Mountain.

Wasabi Disco with Wolf Muller – Sneaky Pete’s, Sat Dec 20
Welcome to another 'obviously written while a sheet or two to the wind' Wasabi Disco press release, which invites us to ‘taste the floor’ at this night of ‘percussive wigged out psychedelic dance music’. Echoing its own status as possibly the most ferociously great club night in its own city, Wasabi has here gone out of its way to source another unsung hero of Europe: Wolf Muller (aka producer Bufiman) of Dusseldorf’s Salon Des Amateurs, a small club in the city’s contemporary art gallery.

Hot Waxxxmas with Richy Ahmed – Liquid Room, Sat Dec 20
Seeing as it’s seasonal late opening time of year again, why not spend a night dancing into the wee small hours (5am, to be precise) with Richy Ahmed, one of the biggest DJs the pre-Christmas weekend in Scotland will bring us? Born and based in Newcastle, his eclectic and party-focused set fuses techno and disco, while his skills have caught the ear of the great and good to such an extent that he’s now part of Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ Hot Creations inner circle. He’s released two EPs on the label (also mixing for Rinse Recordings) and played around the world at their Hot Natured parties. Support comes from Edinburgh’s Moda Black signee Theo Kottis.
