A mix of arty new films and classics is screened at the Filmhouse, which supplements its day-to-day programming with a variety of festivals (the annual Dead by Dawn is a gory treat) and extra screenings on Sundays and Wednesdays organised by the long-running Edinburgh Film Guild (www.edinburghfilmguild.com). On the second Sunday of the month, you can go head-to-head with Edinburgh's cinema-going cognoscenti at the notoriously competitive quiz night. The café/bar serves a range of drinks and home-cooked food.
