Its name nodding both to a Swiss nightclub favoured by the original Surrealists and to the hugely influential electronic act, Cabaret Voltaire helped reinvigorate Edinburgh's music scene during the early 21st century. The programme is a fine mix of local bands and touring acts, from bigger names such as Glenn Tilbrook to the 3-4-3 nights that offer three upcoming Edinburgh acts for £3. The Speakeasy space in the club's basement, once home to rehearsal rooms in which assorted Edinburgh luminaries learned their trade, offers a TV relay of events upstairs. After the bands, there are regular club nights.
