Built in the mid 1980s and an early pioneer among the various developments to the immediate west side of Lothian Road, the Sheraton Grand has a bland façade and an interior that could almost be any Sheraton on earth. The hotel has the chain's typical international-traveller aesthetic throughout; its main defining feature, aside from the castle views from some windows, is the world-beating One Spa, which has a fantastic thermal suite, a 19-metre swimming pool, an outdoor hydropool and various other facilities. Guests may have to pay a supplement for some of the facilities.
