The Hotel Ceilidh-Donia is in the suburbs, around a mile and a half south of Princes Street (ten minutes on the bus on a good day). But that's the only downside with this fine property, a much-loved, family-run bargain in an attractive Victorian terrace. The rooms are comfortable, the rates are appealing and the bistro is decent, and the entire property has a fair amount of character. The dog-averse or dog-allergic should note that the owners have two golden retrievers.
