A kilted doorman will welcome you to 'Scotland's most famous address', where the trappings are everything you'd expect from a five-star hotel. Exterior rooms offer panoramic views, while the quieter interior rooms overlook the chandeliered Palm Court, where a famous afternoon tea is served in serene splendour before the space morphs into the Bollinger Bar at Palm Court. Hadrian's Brasserie does a fair imitation of cosmopolitan Milan, but the real jewel in the crown is the Michelin-starred Number One. The in-house spa has also sailed into 'best UK urban spa' lists.
