Opened in September 2006, the Museum on the Mound is housed within the former Bank of Scotland head office (it's now the Scottish headquarters for the Lloyds Banking Group) and is one of only three banking museums in the UK. Showcasing a unique collection of artefacts and memorabilia, it has a mix of static and interactive displays to keep visitors entertained. There's a section on forgers and forging, plus a gallery dedicated to the history of Bank of Scotland at the Mound that's set in context alongside the development of the city. The bank itself was founded by the Parliament of Scotland back in 1695; to this day it issues its own banknotes.
