Two decades ago, as Calton Studios, this venue hosted early shows from the likes of Mudhoney and Teenage Fanclub. During the early 21st century, the emphasis fell more on goth and emo, but there are still plenty of indie acts on the bill. Noise complaints from neighbours, the majority of whom moved into the area long after the venue set up shop, caused the council to pull the plug for several months in 2009, but the venue eventually had its licence restored.
