If the Edinburgh restaurant market is maturing, then the growing profile of this small, smart, basement eaterie, run by chef Jason Gallagher since 2004, is part of the trend. The dishes betray no lack of ambition: grilled halibut fillet with a crab crust, for instance. But it's no city centre hangout: it's a neighbourhood establishment, albeit in a fairly swish locality, providing great food without hubris. Local foie gras for local people? Drop by anyway.
