James Thomson, the brains behind the Witchery and the Tower, took over the old Prestonfield House Hotel, gave it a sumptuous makeover and reopened it as Prestonfield in 2003. Rhubarb, its restaurant, offers the likes of squat lobster minestrone to start, guinea fowl with truffled sweetcorn as a main. The set lunch doubles as a pre-theatre menu and is the economical way to experience at this opulent venue.
