This sparse room certainly isn't a romantic venue - or, indeed, an eaterie where you might linger at all - but it has secret weapons in the form of an amazing bargain lunch (£5.50) and excellent boiled or fried dumplings (guo tie and jiao zi). It's a rewarding pit-stop on a night out and perfect for larger groups who're happy to share.

Chop Chop is a truly horrendous example of Chinese cuisine. The restaurant has the slogan "Can a billion people be wrong?" but the dumplings (I won't even bother mentioning the other rubbish they had) are awful. They're tiny, tasteless and have skins like rubber boots. Avoid at all costs!
