This is a typical Hotel du Vin-style restaurant, with a retro-French feel, but none the worse for its predictability; indeed, it's been very popular with locals since the hotel landed in Edinburgh at the end of 2008. The bistro offers a bargain one-dish lunch with wine and coffee (£10.95) or dinner choices such as chilled pea and broad bean soup with parmesan ice-cream to start, beef and snail pie to follow.
