Apartment's success obviously depends on the food, but its status as an informal designer eaterie for middle-class Edinburgh hipsters also owes much to its location: Bruntsfield, Marchmont and Merchiston are right on the doorstep. Expect to find key dishes such as the chunky, healthy
lines or CHLs (chargrilled chunks on a skewer); the rest of the menu has a modern, fusion feel. A spring 2006 makeover showed that the management isn't resting on its laurels.
