Abstract review

Abstract is easily Edinburgh's most exciting and dramatic opening of 2007. First chef Loic Lefebvre endured a Gordon Ramsay televisual ordeal at the original Abstract in Inverness, but ignored F Word's advice and stuck with his own menu. Then Lefebvre and the proprietors opened in Edinburgh, for which locals are still grateful. Then he quit and went home to France; fortunately, quality didn't suffer. Modern decor and contemporary food with élan, the two-course lunch menu is a total bargain.
