One of Edinburgh's leading neighbourhood restaurants, this is a very smart basement venue indeed. With award-winning chef and proprietor Jason Gallagher (formerly of the Bonham) still at the helm, the cooking betrays no lack of ambition: Scottish ingredients such as venison, salmon or halibut are treated in a Franco-European style to create complex analogues of meat and two veg. There are also good vegetarian choices, such as goat cheese and walnut gateau, and a rather sweet Tot's Taster menu for children.
