Back in the 1990s this place was known as Bar Ce Lona, then it became the Human Be-in and finally, in 2008, it morphed into 56 North. All that time it has been a student neighbourhood café-bar. Now its food includes gourmet burgers, flatbreads with the likes of salmon and avocado, salads, and dishes like gammon steak with duck egg.

Very good cocktails as always

This cosy little bar tucked away in the Southside and is a perfect venue either for a hot date, some cocktails with friends to start off a night out, or for a quiet glass of wine mid week. The leather sofas are great for relaxing on while the décor is tasteful and helps to create different moods within different areas of the bar. 56 North is known among my friends for its hot bar staff so if nothing else, they’ll at least be a nice bar man to keep your eye on! As a whole, the staff are very friendly and efficient, prices are reasonable, and there’s a good choice of music. The outside seating is second to none in summer even if the weather is still scottish.
