Royal Lyceum review

At its peak in the 1970s, the Lyceum was at the vanguard of a renaissance in local theatre, and a breeding ground for leading directors such as Bill Bryden and Richard Eyre. The intervening decades were less radical but audiences stayed loyal; since 2003, artistic director David Mark Thomson has built the company into one of the most popular in Scotland. Notable moments include John Clifford's bold translation of Goethe's Faust and a pre- Doctor Who David Tennant starring in Look Back in Anger.
