Madonna film to debut in Berlin

Madonna's directorial debut, entitled 'Filth and Wisdom' has been selected to screen at this year's Berlin Film Festival.

Singer, dancer, model, actress, author…director? It has now been confirmed that Madonna – AKA the woman who got to kiss Tom Hanks in ‘In A League of Their Own’ – has been asked (or, we suspect, allowed) to screen her directorial debut at next month’s Berlin International Film Festival.

Starring Richard E. Grant and Eugene Hutz from gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello, her first short, ‘Filth and Wisdom’ premieres alongside new work from the likes of Bruce LaBruce and Zero Chou.

We must, however, remember that this is not her first stint behind the camera – she did, after all, direct a masterful TV ad for her ‘M for Madonna’ campaign at H&M earlier last year which many cultural commentators praised for it’s obvious nods to Kieslowski’s ‘Dekalog’ series (not really).

No one’s quite sure what the movie’s about (for the best, perhaps?), but it’s thought to be either a dramatic comedy or a musical romance and rumours suggest that it’s set in either a ballet school or a lap-dancing club.

I think it is disgraceful the way this review is written. I'm shocket. Why so much hate for a film that you, Patrick, hasn't even seen??? Oh i see...is it because a Popstar is the Director??? Right...so it must be megacrap for sure! Grow up and learnt to be less judgemental. At least see what films before review them. Otherwise, if you just want to report a news, just report it without adding your own opinion, since you haven't formed one yet. Posted on Dec 11 2009 09:41
