Sean Penn selected for jury duty
Sean Penn has been selected to head the jury at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival
They’ll never dare say it, but the only sign of true cinematic acceptance is when you’ve been asked to head the jury at Cannes. Britain’s own Stephen Frears did a bang-up job last year, making sure the right films won the right prizes. It’s just been announced that 2008 is set to be the year of Sean Penn, as the notoriously moody actor/director has been selected for jury duty on the Croisette. Expect a sweeping, elegiac vision of the old West with obvious pretensions towards Terrence Malick to walk away with the top prize.
No films have yet been announced for this year's festival which runs May 14-25.
