Keira and Sienna to open Edinburgh
'The Edge of Love' is to be the opening film at this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival
John Maybury's portrait of Dylan Thomas' complicated love life stars Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller and Matthew Rhys, all of whom are expected to attend. Set in wartime London and rural Wales, the film features Rhys as the demanding, penniless poet, Miller as his free-spirited wife Caitlin and Knightley as Dylan's childhood sweetheart Vera.Announcing the news, EIFF director Hannah McGill praised this 'utterly seductive and fascinating film'. It continues the Celtic theme of last year's opening film, the Edinburgh-set 'Hallam Foe'.
Returning to the festival that awarded his debut feature 'Love is the Devil' the Michael Powell Award for best British film, Maybury said he was thrilled at the selection.
In a break from its traditional August slot, EIFF is running from June 18-29.
