The Peter Jackson blockbuster wins Best Picture at the Empire Film Awards 2006.
Mar 15 2006
The Empire Awards took place earlier in the week, and while they lacked the star power of previous ceremonies (Thandie Newton and the Harry Potter kids appeared to be the biggest stars of the evening), the night was nevertheless a success, with 'King Kong' walking away with the Best Picture Award.
Elsewhere 'Pride & Prejudice' was named Best British Film, Steve Box and Nick Park won Best Director for 'Wallace and Gromit - The Curse of the Were-Rabbit' and Tony Curtis was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.
