'Ocean's Thirteen' unlucky for some
Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones miss out on the sequel, though Ellen Barkin does join the cast.
Mar 27 2006
'Ocean's Twelve' may well be the most smug and self-satisfied film of the last decade, but that hasn't stopped producer Jerry Weintraub from re-assembling the film's star-studded cast for 'Ocean's Thirteen'.
Director Stephen Soderbergh will again direct, while George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle and the rest of the male cast will return, although female leads Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones won't be involved in this one as, according to Weintraub, 'Their characters just weren't part of the script this time'.
That script has been written by Brian Koppelman and David Levein, and does include a role for Ellen Barkin, who will play a woman who becomes closely involved with Damon's character.
Little else is known about the plot at present, although the action will again revolve around casinos, with a fully operational, purpose-built casino set being built on the Warner Bros lot for the shoot.
'Ocean's Thirteen' is set to start lensing on July 21 for a summer 2007 release.
