Favreau to forge 'Iron Man' pic
Marvel makes several high-profile announcements about some of their most eagerly anticipated projects.
Apr 28 2006
Marvel made a whole host of announcements this morning, the biggest being that Jon Favreau will direct their forthcoming 'Iron Man' feature.
Favreau, who starred in 'Swingers' and directed 'Elf' and 'Zathura: A Space Adventure', will develop a script with writing duo Arthur Marcum and Matt Hollaway, and it's hoped that the film could be in cinemas as early as summer 2008.
Elsewhere, Marvel head Avi Arad revealed this about his upcoming slate:
Edgar Wright ('Shaun of the Dead') will co-write his 'Ant Man' movie with Joe Cornish (of 'Adam and Joe Show' fame).
Andrew Marlowe ('Air Force One', 'Hollow Man') will adapt super spy story 'Nick Fury' for the big screen.
David Self ('Thirteen Days', 'Road to Perdition') will pen the script for a 'Captain America' feature.
Zak Penn ('X-Men: The Last Stand') is currently writing a sequel to 'Hulk', which will be called 'Incredible Hulk'.
Mark Protoseveich ('Poseidon') will write the screenplay for a 'Thor' movie.
All-in-all good news if you are a comic book fan, though here's hoping these features turn out to be more 'Spider-Man' than 'Daredevil'.

Joe Cornish? Bonus. I bet he knows jack-all about story structure, f'rinstance, but he'll bring the funny.
Hopefully Edgar will keep everything tight.
I wish my blog was in the useful list. Sure should be: http://filmick.blogspot.com/ Posted on Apr 28 2006 08:25 - Report as inappropriate
