Crowe catches '3.10 to Yuma'

Russell Crowe is set to star opposite Batman in the western remake.

Aug  4 2006

Russell Crowe has signed up to star in James 'Walk the Line' Mangold's remake of '3.10 to Yuma'.

The forthcoming flick was originally to have starred Tom Cruise and Eric Bana, but when those deals fell through, Crowe stepped into the breach to appear in his first western since 'The Quick and the Dead'.

The search is now on to find a rancher to play opposite Crowe's outlaw, with the smart money on Christian Bale at the moment. And by coincidence, I'll be chatting to the 'Batman Begins' star about the brilliant 'Harsh Times' later today, so rest assured I'll quiz him about the role.

'3.10 to Yuma' is set to go into production in the autumn. To read our original story on the film, click here.
