The online community presents an amazing new film competition.

Our good friends at MySpace have announced the launch of a fantastic new film project with Vertigo Films and Film4 entitled MyMovie MashUp.
Working towards the creation of a £1million film, the MySpace community will play an integral part in the entire creative process, finding the director and cast, naming the film, editing the script, sourcing music for the soundtrack and helping out with both marketing and distribution.
Budding Scorseses and Spielbergs should submit a short film to www.myspace.com/mymoviemashup by April 27. A panel of experts, including actors Ashley Walters and Sienna Miller, directors Kevin Macdonald and Michael Caton-Jones and producers Andrew Macdonald, Stephen Woolley and Nick Love, will select the best three shorts, with MySpace users then choosing the ultimate winner.
Speaking about the project, Peter Carlton, Senior Commissioning Executive for Film4, said 'Film4 stands for innovation, freshness, challenge. Think 'Trainspotting', 'Touching the Void', 'Dead Man's Shoes', 'The Last King of Scotland'. With MyMovie MashUp we are taking the next step in finding new ways to make films which matter, by making a film with the audience not just for them.'
The announcement coincides with the launch of the MySpace Film in the UK, a creative platform that allows independent filmmakers to upload shorts, documentaries, animated films and other projects to create an interactive online film festival. The page also features select reviews from the best darn critics in the business, Time Out.
