'Scanners' return

Darren Lynn Bousman is to direct a remake of David Cronenberg's horror classic.

Feb 28 2007

Another horror remake is on the way, this time in the shape of Darren Lynn Bousman's update of David Cronenberg's brilliant 'Scanners'.

David Goyer ('Batman Begins') is currently writing the script, which will again involve a scientist who infiltrates a group of telepaths whose mind-blowing abilities make them lethal weapons.

Regular readers of The TOMB will know I'm no fan of the current craze for horror remakes, but in this day and age of stem cell research, gene manipulation and cloning, there's ripe material for a new take on the story. Plus, you can't beat the sight of an exploding head on the big screen.

'Scanners' is due to shoot in early 2008, after Bousman has finished work on 'Saw IV' and rock opera 'Repo'.
