Gervais visits 'Ghost Town'
Ricky Gervais has accepted his first leading role in an American feature.

Ricky Gervais has finally signed up for his first leading role in an American movie. Having spent the last few years turning down projects left, right and centre, he's agreed to star in 'Ghost Town', a romantic comedy that will shoot in New York this October.
Full details of the project are currently being kept tightly under wraps, but Gervais told Radio 1 that rather than being a sweet and sentimental romantic comedy, it will be cynical and twisted, with the emphasis very much on the comedy element.
And why has he decided to take the leading man plunge now? Simply put, it's because 'Ghost Town' is the first script Gervais read in the last five years that he's actually wanted to do. Let's just hope that the finished article is better than his hopeless recent cameo in the equally hopeless 'Night at the Museum'.
UPDATE: Greg Kinnear will star opposite Gervais in the film, which revolves around a dentist who dies briefly during routine dental surgery and gains the ability to see dead people. David Koepp will direct.
