Frank Miller to adapt Raymond Chandler novella

Sin City’s writer/co-director to pen screenplay for Clive Owen film

Jun 20 2007

Given that legendary detective novelist Raymond Chandler is clearly an inspiration to writer/director Frank Miller, it’s no surprise that he’s adapting Chandler’s Philip Marlowe mystery 'Trouble is my Business'.

It’s set to be a showcase for Brit actor Clive Owen's talents - he'll be playing the hard-drinking, hard-living detective who spends as much time romancing husky-voiced femme fatales as he does solving cases in 1940s LA.

Miller’s recent forays into film have seen him write and co-direct 'Sin City' (along with sequels 2 and 3 currently in pre-production) and his graphic novel was the basis for recent hit '300' (which gave Scot actor Gerard Butler’s slow-burn career a much needed push).

‘Frank Miller knows more about noir than anyone I have ever met,’ Owen told Variety. ‘Miller adapting Chandler seemed like a perfect match.’

In the meantime, Owen fans can catch him flexing his action-man muscles in 'Shoot-‘Em-Up', out in September, then playing Sir Walter Raleigh opposite Cate Blanchett’s Elizabeth I in 'Elizabeth The Golden Age' (scheduled for release in November).
