Want to buy Wolverine's claws?

The 'Hollywood Helps Hollygrove' charity auction has hundreds of items of movie memorabilia up for grabs.

Nov 24 2004

Ever fancied cruising round town in the ankle length black velvet skirt that Ally Sheedy wore in 'St Elmo's Fire'? Or how about scaring your friends with an ape mask from Tim Burton's 'Planet of the Apes'? Or maybe just going for a swim in a life jacket from James Cameron's 'Titanic'. These are just some of the many items up for grabs in an online charity auction taking place on E-bay at the moment.

'Hollywood Helps Hollygrove' is an online event aimed at raising funds for the charity Hollygrove, an American organisation that helps abused and neglected children, and everyone from Kevin Costner to Halle Berry, Mel Gibson to Nicole Kidman has been handing over their wares for auction.

Running from now until November 29, highlights of the sale include Wolverine's 'X-Men' claws, Tom Hank's 'Road to Perdition' coat and an elf-sized elf costume from (you've guessed it), 'Elf'.

Yet while some of the items have already reached astronomically high prices ($51,000 for a George Clooney mask from 'Batman and Robin' no less!), others are more affordable, if perhaps slightly less desirable.

So if you've been hankering after Burt Reynolds' racoon hat from 'Without a Paddle'; or a t-shirt designed by Jason Biggs; or a 'Joe Dirt' poster signed by David Spade, this is the place to come. Indeed, if life won't be complete until you bag yourself a Boss Nass photo signed by Brian Blessed, you need look no further, and at this very moment in time it'll only set you back a paltry $2.25.

There's also a ton of 'X-Men' art up for grabs (the film's producer Lauren Shuler Donner is organising the event), as well as tickets to the Grammy's, the MTV Movie Awards and the premiere of 'Phantom of the Opera'.

So if you've got a few dollars to spare and fancy investing them in a good cause, check out the Hollywood Helps Hollygrove auction at http://www.hollygrove.org/auction. Just make sure you leave the 'Free Willy' slippers alone though, as we've got our eye on them.
