Denzel Washington to tackle 'Inside Man'

Story will tell of a cop confronting a bank robber during a heist gone wrong.

Apr  6 2005

Denzel Washington will play a tough cop in Spike Lee's next film, 'Inside Man'.

The script, which was written by Russell Gewirtz and Menno Meyjes, sees Washington's character pit his wits against a bank robber when a heist goes wrong and descends into a tense hostage situation.

Oscar-nominee Clive Owen is currently in talks to play the thief.

The film will mark the fourth time Washington has worked with Lee following 'Mo' Better Blues', 'Malcolm X' and 'He Got Game'.

Brian Grazer is to produce, and shooting will begin this summer after Washington completes his Broadway run as Brutus in 'Julius Caesar'.
