Woody Allen casts Ian McShane in latest film

Much like Allen's last project, Scarlett Johannson will again take a role in the ensemble piece.

Jun  2 2005

Ian McShane has landed a role in a forthcoming Woody Allen flick.

The artist formerly known as 'Lovejoy', whose career rose phoenix-like from the flames after his menacing turn in Jonathan Glazer's 'Sexy Beast', will star in the as-yet untitled ensemble comedy.

Like Woody's last effort, 'Match Point' (which premiered in Cannes last month) the film is set in London and will co-star Scarlett Johansson.

McShane will fit the project in between seasons two and three of the excellent HBO drama 'Deadwood', in which he plays foul-mouthed bar owner Al Swearengen.

As usual with a Woody Allen project, further details are scarce at the moment, but rest assured we'll bring you updates as and when they happen.
