Luis Mandoki ('Angel Eyes', 'When a Man Loves a Woman') is to direct an Irish-set family flick called 'The Winged Boy'.
Based on an unpublished story by Mary Hayley Bell (widow of the late, great John Mills) the film revolves around a young boy who grows wings and develops the ability to fly. As you do.
The screenplay has been written by Michael Geary and Crispian Mills (Bell's grandson and former member of indie also-rans Kula Shaker), with Malia Scotch Marmo ('Hook', 'Once Around') currently doing a re-write.
'The Winged Boy' is set to start production in the UK and Ireland next spring, while Mandoki's most recent film, 'Innocent Voices' (which currently has no UK release date) is reviewed here.
