'Spider-Man 3' casting news
Bryce Dallas Howard is all set to play the new love in Peter Parker's life.

Bryce Dallas Howard is the latest addition to the ever-expanding 'Spider-Man' cast.
Howard, who starred in M Night Shyamalan's 'The Village' and his forthcoming fantasy feature 'Lady in the Water', has been cast as Gwen Stacey, one of the best loved characters in the 'Spider-Man' universe.
In the comics, Stacey is a friend of Mary-Jane's who ends up replacing M-J in Peter Parker's affections. Her story then takes a terrible and tragic twist, although it's not clear at this time if that particular plot will be carried over into the film.
Howard joins Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace as newcomers to the franchise, while stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst return for thirds as Spidey and Mary-Jane respectively.
With Sam Raimi again occupying the director's chair, it looks like 'Spider-Man III' is shaping up nicely for a summer 2007 release.
