Brad Pitt fancies gay role
The 'Mr & Mrs Smith' star wants to appear in a 'Brokeback Mountain'-style flick.
Feb 3 2006
Brad Pitt has allegedly jumped on the Ledger/Gyllenhaal bandwagon and said he wants to star in a 'gay movie'.
According to The Sun, a source close to the star said: 'Brad has asked his people to find him a script to play a gay man. He wants it to be a story that appeals to both men and women and he wants it to be the edgiest work he's done. He's seen the critical acclaim that 'Brokeback Mountain' has won and he wants a piece of it.
The source continued: 'Brad knows it would be seen as shocking to take on a gay role because he's seen as such a heart-throb. But he has never shied away from taking on controversial films, and he has often chosen to do smaller, more challenging movies, rather than go for the big box-office smash.'
Neil Jordan's 'Interview with the Vampire' hinted at a homosexual relationship between the two leading vampires, played by Pitt and Tom Cruise. But Brad, it seems, is hungry for more. To read the original story, head over to The Sun here.

- All male casts are the future. No more dire films where the only 'selling-point' is the latest fitty wearing skimpy clothes. Imagine how good Basic Instinct might have been with someone like Harrison Ford instead of Sharon Stone! Posted on Feb 06 2006 07:31

- I think this is a great move. Hopefully this will spell the end of those godawful heterosexual rom-coms a la Maid in Manhattan, Notting Hill etc etc. This is the future of film. I think there's a niche market in making gay horror movies, gay star wars remakes, you name it - endless potential. Posted on Feb 03 2006 11:32
