Bond baddie unveiled

Mads Mikkelsen will play the dastardly Le Chiffre, although there's still no word yet on the next Bond girl.

Feb 16 2006

Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen has been cast as the bad guy in the new James Bond film, 'Casino Royale'.

Mikkelsen, who appeared in 'King Arthur', 'Torremolinos 73' and 'Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself', will play Le Chiffre, Bond's villainous nemesis in the film.

The announcement was made yesterday at a press conference, although anyone hoping that the new Bond girl would be unveiled at the same event was to be sorely disappointed.

Director Martin Campbell explained that the choice of actress was now down to 'two or three', but beyond that, he simply said 'You'll just have to wait and see'.

Eva Green, who starred in 'The Dreamers' and 'Kingdom of Heaven', is the current favourite to bag the role.
