Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Two kids, orphaned Whittaker and sidekick Foster (her first movie, aged nine), get the title roles in this mild Disney live-action offering: they embark across country (the Strawberry Mountains, Oregon) with their elderly pet lion, Major, to join college student pal Douglas, who's doing some goat-herding over the summer. Melodramatic 'kidnapping' angle (in the second half) fails to fire up the plot.
