Eight Crazy Nights (2002)
Director: Seth Kearsley
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A supposedly comic musical about the rehabilitation of a 33-year-old party animal by an elderly basketball coach over the eight days of Hanukkah. There may be worse ways to celebrate the festive season than at the multiplex in the company of this ageing cartoon lout and his literally shat upon pensioner mentor - but you'll trawl the murky depths before you find one. South Park deals in frozen embryos with a distinctive style and subversive agenda; this deals in generically drawn frozen faeces because where there's muck, there's brass. In the end it's up to a troupe of singing corporate logos to put the world to rights. As a self-referential comment on consumerism, the film might have been funny if it weren't so poorly executed and fixated on bodily functions.Author: SS
