Excess Baggage (1997)
Director: Marco Brambilla
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Rich girl Emily (Silverstone, irritating) kidnaps herself and demands a ransom from neglectful father. But then car thief Del Toro unwittingly steals the vehicle in which she's locked herself. Emily takes charge of the abduction. Pursued by the cops, two incompetent hoods, and a cool ex-CIA agent (Walken), the couple flee across country and fall in love. Del Toro, so brilliant as the vowel-gargling felon in The Usual Suspects, is just too weird to convince as a romantic lead. The action covers 72 hours and, despite some classy visuals, it sometimes feels like it.Author: NF
