From Time Out Film Guide

In this skewed follow-up to The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Stephan Elliott once more braves the Outback to find a cultural enclave which has long since isolated itself from modern Australia. Waylaid by a local maiden, New York con artist Scheach finds himself trapped in the desert community of Woop Woop, where macho patriarch Taylor holds unbending sway, women are women, kangaroos are dinner, and there's no escape. Elliott is out to uncover the heart of darkness in the Aussie national identity, but the ferocity of his attack soon pays diminishing returns. With Taylor hamming away to the nines and The Sound of Music replayed as the town's only entertainment, strident kitsch is the order of the day, and it becomes very wearing indeed.
