The Wind Cannot Read (1958)
Director: Ralph Thomas
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Grisly romantic twaddle set during WWII, with Bogarde's chipper air force chappie arriving in Delhi for a language course, falling for and then marrying a Japanese dish (Tani), getting sent to Burma, enduring torture in a PoW camp, and escaping when he hears that his wife has a brain tumour. Love scenes are played against the Taj Mahal, and dear Dirk looks as if he wishes he hadn't read the script, which is all wind.Author: ATu
