La Dame aux Camélias (1981)
Director: Mauro Bolognini
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Not based on the play or novel, but on the real-life romance that inspired the tearful tale of Marguerite Gautier. But the unhappy love of Dumas fils for Marie Duplessis is turned into hoary melodrama, as lavishly tatty as any rep performance of the play. Matters are not improved by a very choppy narrative, adapted from a longer TV version.Author: TM
