From Time Out Film Guide

In America, in anticipation of Roger Corman, this twee little film was called Maniacs on Wheels. Bogarde plays a factory worker who becomes a speedway star. His Aussie mate (Owen) flies off the handlebars and suffers brain damage (hence the original title). But this does not deter Dirk from racing - and enlisting for WWII - while fiancée Renee Asherson gets all worried for his safety.
