Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Selling itself as a transgressive black comedy, a kind of 18-rated Clueless, this runs out of ideas an hour in and proceeds to beat a suitably red-faced retreat from its more outrageous contentions. Ricci consolidates her newfound teen cred as the amoral Dedee, our unreliable narrator, who throws herself on the mercy of half-brother Bill (Donovan) only to seduce his boyfriend Matt (Sergei). She then persuades him to rip off Bill's savings and takes off for a new life in LA. Sadly, the highly resistible Kudrow has more screen time as Bill's drippy, repressed 'friend'. The movie has attitude, all right, but there are no likeable characters (they're either boring or obnoxious), and when you get down to it, it's a pretty conventional AIDS movie manqué.
