Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

As interminably cute as its title suggests, Nimoy's film strains for a sophisticated view of adult relationships, while in reality taking the director's obsession with babies to new depths. Wilder plays Duffy, a satirical cartoonist - so we're told, though on the evidence presented he seems no more than a rather pathetic chauvinist in mid-life crisis. Be that as it may, he can boast good taste in women. First, he woos the wonderful Christine Lahti in double quick time; then, when she has failed to reproduce and been put aside, he turns to the young, spunky Masterson. A stronger actor than Wilder - a cabbage patch doll of a man - might have persuaded us that he is more than a sentimental sexist. As it is, the movie drowns in a maudlin sea of sickly sentiment.
