The Bad News Bears (1976)
Director: Michael Ritchie
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Amiably engrossing satire on the 'win ethic' that offers a take-it-or-leave-it approach to its serious points about enforcing precociousness on kids, but consistently delights with its panoramic comic invention. Drunken slob Matthau (perfect) coaches an abysmally inept Little League baseball team that sniffs unaccustomed success when joined by street-smart girl pitcher O'Neal, and a windmill tilt at the championship ensues. Two sequels never came close to repeating its pleasures.Author: PT
