Belated addition to the Ealing comedy cycle, with Guinness as the scion of a long line of seadogs who switches to commanding a pier because he gets seasick. Much too stereotypical, with laboured jokes about bureaucracy as efforts are made to turn the pier into an entertainments centre. In a nod to Kind Hearts and Coronets, Guinness also plays his ancestors.Author: TM
