A passive small town locksmith enters the Buenos Aires police department via his powerful uncle's connections. Though a painfully slow learner, Zapa gradually gets used to the perks of the trade, which include car-rocking sex with a colleague, and a delirious office Christmas party climaxing in a 21-gun salute. Pablo Trapero, the director of Crane World, pitches his film chiefly as a character study, with Zapa's journey through the ranks doubleing as an incisive countdown of Argentina's desperate hours, racked by economic chaos and endemic corruption.
